It’s easy to ask for prayers or help when we are sick or suddenly became ill. We quickly rush to the aid of friends and family at the unexpected death of a loved one.
But who do we run to when the molestation or rape at 8 years old propelled us into a life of promiscuity and left emotional scars rendering us unable to build and nurture healthy relationships?
Who runs to our aid when the childhood bullying or fist of a mate drained the life out of us and left us filled with shame, rage and regret?
As women, the world tells us we are strong because we survived such pain. But our survival is hidden behind the vail of poor eating habits, obesity, failed relationships, mediocrity and low self-esteem. Life has become a struggle. We know there is more. We know better is out there. But we just don’t know who to call and where to go.
I understand. I too survived sexual abuse. I too survived bullying. I too survived living in poverty. I too am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I too am fighting the battle to alleviate scars my past has left behind. I decided that since I didn’t know what better looked like, I would ask the one who created me.
It’s time to stop hiding. It’s time to seek help. It’s time to allow God to heal the secret places. It’s time to snatch the self-medicating bandages off the wound. It’s time to discover who you are and who you were created to be. It’s time to stop surviving and start thriving!
John 1: 4 – 5 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
I asked God why was I single and He showed me why I was searching for love and led me to the root of the problem. Stop Asking Why Are You Single began my journey to wholeness. He helped me forgive myself and those that hurt me. Then He showed me true love in Him. Through His love I discovered my purpose and how He would use my pain to help others on their journey to wholeness.
We don’t have to know the right questions to ask. We just have to be willing to seek the answers. We must also be committed to the process and open our hearts to the transformation. Let’s take the journey together!
